Lauren Macuga, a promising American skier, faces a setback as a knee injury sidelines her for the rest of the season. The injury occurred during training, disrupting her plans for the 2025-26 World Cup and the Milano-Cortina Olympics. Macuga aims to return stronger post-recovery.
Lauren Macuga, a leading American medal hopeful for the upcoming Milano-Cortina Olympics, is set to miss the remainder of the current ski season due to a knee injury sustained during a training session in Copper Mountain, Colorado, as announced by the U.S. Ski Team on Friday.
The 23-year-old athlete, who recently claimed a Super-G bronze medal at the 2025 world championships in Austria, experienced the unfortunate injury while preparing for the World Cup season. She concluded last season ranked prominently, holding the fourth position globally in downhill and sixth in super-G.
The U.S. Ski Team confirmed on social media that Macuga's right knee injury, which requires surgical intervention, will prevent her participation for the duration of the ongoing season. Despite the setback, Macuga expresses determination to return stronger, competing alongside her sisters Sam and Alli across multiple Olympic disciplines.
