Shanth Kumar's KSCA Presidential Bid Cleared by High Court
Veteran sports administrator KN Shanth Kumar's candidacy for the KSCA presidency has been validated by the Karnataka High Court, overturning a previous decision to invalidate his nomination. This paves the way for a competitive election against former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad. The election is set for December 7.
Veteran sports administrator KN Shanth Kumar received a significant boost on Saturday as the Karnataka High Court ruled in favor of validating his nomination for the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) presidential race, reversing an earlier decision by the Electoral Officer.
This landmark ruling ensures that Shanth Kumar will challenge former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad for the presidency in the elections scheduled for December 7. Shanth Kumar, who has an extensive background in sports administration, expressed his relief and readiness to move forward in the electoral process.
The court's decision sends a strong message about fair election practices while paving the way for a competitive race. Both Shanth Kumar and Prasad's panels are committed to restoring top-flight cricket at Bangalore's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which was recently suspended from hosting high-level matches due to security concerns.
