Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced a forthcoming decision on hosting IPL matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium after discussions in the Cabinet meeting. Meeting with Venkatesh Prasad, President of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Shivakumar emphasized the importance of managing crowd control effectively.

Reflecting on the tragic stampede at the stadium, which claimed 11 lives, Shivakumar stressed the phased incorporation of the Michael D Cunha committee's suggestions to ensure safety. Despite these challenges, the government remains committed to promoting cricket and supporting fans while maintaining the state's reputation.

The state's leadership reaffirmed its support for KSCA's new team and proposed building additional stadiums. Addressing a political tangent, Shivakumar dismissed opposition criticism about handling farmers' issues, asserting that the government has actively resolved farmer grievances, unlike the previous BJP administration.
