Indian shooter Samrat Rana has been recognized as one of the top five performers of the year by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) following his historic triumph at the World Championships in Cairo. The 20-year-old from Karnal, Haryana, claimed the gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol category, becoming the first Indian to achieve such a feat in this event.

Rana's victory was not only remarkable due to his age but also because it ended a strong challenge from China's Hu Kai, the world number one. Rana managed to clinch the gold with two final shots scoring 10.2 and 10.6, edging out Hu, who settled for silver.

In another impressive showing, Rana secured the silver medal in the mixed team event with teammate Esha Singh. Despite Hu Kai's revenge win at the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha, where Rana took bronze, the Indian shooter remains a significant figure in the shooting sport, alongside India's Varun Tomar, who won bronze in the same event, ensuring a double podium finish for India.
