Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has urged the BCCI to schedule cricket matches during the winter months in southern India rather than the north, citing poor visibility due to fog as a major concern.
His comments follow the cancellation of a T20 match between India and South Africa in Lucknow due to severe smog conditions that made playing impossible. Tharoor, a dedicated cricket enthusiast, emphasized the need for strategic scheduling to avoid disappointing fans.
Highlighting Thiruvananthapuram's readiness to host games and the relatively clear weather in the south, Tharoor pressed for a shift in venue during fog-heavy months. He also noted that the women's cricket team is already set to play in the south later in December, reinforcing the region's suitability.
