Despite a 1-0 loss at Cairo International Stadium, the Algerian team triumphed on aggregate, having initially secured a victory via a controversial stoppage-time penalty in the first leg.

Zamalek's early lead, courtesy of Oday Dabbagh's fifth-minute goal, was not enough as the match concluded in dramatic fashion. Glody Likonza sealed the win, marking USM Alger's second Confederation Cup title, sparking jubilant celebrations among their supporters.
