England's goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, has expressed confidence in his ability to take a penalty for the Three Lions during the FIFA World Cup, if called upon. Currently training with the squad in Florida before warm-up matches against New Zealand and Costa Rica, Pickford has been refining his penalty-taking alongside his usual goalkeeping duties. His dedication is part of England's preparation for the upcoming tournament in the United States.

In an interview, the Everton goalkeeper shared his readiness to step up for England under pressure. He stated, "Yes. I'd back myself 100 percent. I'll put the practice in and execute it," as reported by goal.com. Known for his decisive saves in penalty shootouts during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euros, Pickford also successfully converted a penalty in the 2019 UEFA Nations League finals against Switzerland.

While his primary focus is stopping penalties, Pickford remains prepared to take one if necessary, emphasizing a balanced approach. "I want to focus on the savings as well," he said. "If called upon, I play for England, I represent the country, so I'll step up and take it when needed." Former England manager Gareth Southgate has acknowledged Pickford's penalty-taking skills, recalling his capability in the past.

The English squad has landed in the United States for the final stages of preparation before their World Cup campaign begins. Upcoming friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica will allow the team to perfect their strategies. England will face Croatia, Ghana, and Panama in their Group L matches starting June 17 in Dallas.
