Red Sox LHP Sale undergoes Tommy John surgery

Boston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale underwent what the team called "successful" Tommy John surgery on his throwing arm Monday, a procedure that is expected to sideline him into the 2021 season. He has a 109-73 career record (35-23 with Boston) with a 3.03 ERA. Sale has 2,007 strikeouts in 1,629 2/3 innings over 312 games (232 starts). His strikeout-to-walk ratio, 5.37, is the best in baseball history.
