Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Tuesday introduced Amazon One Enterprise, a fully managed, palm-based identity service for organizations to improve the security of physical spaces and digital assets, reduce operational costs, and add convenience for users. The new service improves the overall security of an organization by helping prevent costly security breaches, the cloud giant said.
The Amazon One Enterprise identity service provides highly accurate and secure enterprise access control through an easy-to-use biometric identification device. According to the cloud giant, the service combines palm and vein imagery for biometric matching and delivers an accuracy rate of 99.9999%, exceeding the accuracy of other biometric alternatives. Its palm-recognition technology uses advanced AL/ML to create a palm signature that is associated with identification credentials like a badge, employee ID, or PIN.
"Amazon One Enterprise raises our security bar while delivering a convenient experience for our workforce. With Amazon One Enterprise, we can provide secure access to authorized personnel without extra verification, while simplifying the authentication process and reducing the risk of physical breaches. We look forward to expanding Amazon One Enterprise across all our locations," said Kevin Harris, director of Global Security for AWS Data Centers.
Amazon One Enterprise is available in preview in the U.S. The offering includes the Amazon One device and a software authentication service which runs in the AWS cloud. To implement the service, IT and security admins can easily install Amazon One devices on-site and activate them in the AWS Management Console.
