Guizhou: From Rugged Landscapes to Big Data Epicenter
Guizhou, once known for its rugged terrain, is now a burgeoning hub for big data and technology. The 2025 China International Big Data Industry Expo showcased its rise, attracting global attention. The region's digital transformation, fueled by large-scale data centers and smart manufacturing, positions it as a leader in China's digital era.
In the mountains of southwest China, Guizhou has transitioned from being known for its rugged landscapes to becoming a key player in big data and technology. This transformation was showcased during the 2025 China International Big Data Industry Expo in late August, captivating attendees with over 1,300 innovative technologies and products.
Nattapong, a Thai content creator, was among the visitors who marveled at the futuristic displays, including AI translation glasses and Tesla's debut at the event. The expo attracted 375 global companies, cementing Guizhou's status as the "Digital Valley of China."
Guizhou's technological renaissance is driven by initiatives like the "East Data, West Computing" project, with centers such as the Guian New Area accumulating impressive computing capacity. Supported by major enterprises like Huawei, Tencent, and Apple, Guizhou is becoming a hub for smart manufacturing and intelligent computing power.
