Karnataka is poised to lead India's quantum evolution as it prepares to unveil a blueprint for the country's first Quantum City, developed in Bengaluru. This landmark announcement will take place at the Bengaluru Tech Summit, according to state Minister for Science and Technology, N S Boseraju.
Speaking at the Smart Bio Awards at Science Gallery Bengaluru, Minister Boseraju emphasized the Karnataka government's vision under its Quantum Mission. With an allocation of Rs 1,000 crore, the mission aims to establish Karnataka as the 'Quantum Capital of Asia.' The state has sought central support to back this vision through a proposed Quantum Materials Innovation Network.
The government is not only focusing on quantum advancements but also expanding educational outreach. Initiatives like the Astronomy Access Programme provide telescopes to schools, engaging rural students with space science. The upcoming Bengaluru Science City, backed by a Rs 300-crore investment, promises an immersive, learning-rich environment, fostering scientific curiosity and merging science with art and design.
