In a significant development for India's maritime sector, the Andhra Pradesh government has greenlit a groundbreaking project by Sagar Defence Engineering Pvt Ltd. This initiative will establish the country's first autonomous shipyard, exclusively focused on next-generation maritime systems, in Nellore district.
Slated to rise at Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour, this pioneering facility will cater exclusively to autonomous and unmanned maritime technologies. It aims to place Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of maritime innovation and employment, creating around 750 jobs.
Officials have assured the project's timely completion, with operations commencing in late 2026. The government's commitment highlights its strategic focus on high-tech investments, further solidifying its role in defense and technology advancement.
