Lohum, an EV battery recycling firm, announced plans to develop a significant recycling facility in Sharjah. This strategic venture, in partnership with the UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and BEEAH, reflects a commitment to sustainable practices in managing electric vehicle battery waste.
The facility, located in BEEAH's integrated waste management complex, will utilize advanced technology to process Lithium-ion batteries. By 2026, the plant aims to handle 1,500 tons of batteries, with goals to double processing capacity within three years.
This joint endeavor, unveiled at the World Future Energy Summit, emphasizes recycling and repurposing frameworks that support the circular economy. It offers comprehensive solutions to producers, ensuring adherence to regulations and contributing to a reduction in landfill reliance as electric mobility demand soars.
