Uber Expands Delivery Services Across Europe: A Strategic Move
Uber is expanding its delivery business into seven new European countries, aiming to grow its market hold in the competitive food-delivery industry. With expectations of generating an additional $1 billion in gross bookings over three years, the initiative reflects Uber's strategic efforts to enhance its global footprint.
Uber is set to expand its delivery operations into seven new European countries this year, according to a report by the Financial Times. This move comes as tech companies intensify their efforts in the lucrative food-delivery market.
The U.S.-based company aims to launch services in the Czech Republic, Greece, and Romania. The expansion is projected to contribute an additional $1 billion in gross bookings over the next three years, highlighting Uber's commitment to strengthening its presence in the region.
Susan Anderson, Uber's Global Head of Delivery, stated that the company aims to 'raise the bar, shake things up, and deliver better value across the category.' The expansion will also include Austria, Denmark, Finland, and Norway. Earlier this week, Uber bolstered its Turkish market reach by acquiring the delivery arm of Turkey's Getir from Mubadala.
