China's Youth Job Market Trends: A February Update

In February, China's youth jobless rate for 16-to-24 year-olds (excluding college students) decreased to 16.1% from 16.3%. Meanwhile, unemployment for 25-29 year-olds increased to 7.2% from 6.8%, and the 30-59 year-old demographic saw a slight rise in joblessness to 4.2% from 4.0%.

In a statistical release on Thursday, the National Bureau of Statistics reported a slight drop in China's youth jobless rate among 16-to-24 year-olds, excluding college students. The rate fell to 16.1% in February from 16.3% in the previous month.

Conversely, unemployment among the 25-29 age group saw an increase, climbing from 6.8% to 7.2%. This segment continues to face challenges in securing employment opportunities post-education.

Additionally, those in the 30-59 age bracket experienced a minimal rise in unemployment rates, climbing to 4.2% from 4.0% in January. The data highlights varying employment challenges across different age demographics in China.
