Airtel's 'Priority Postpaid': Analyzing the 5G Network Revolution
Bharti Airtel's 'Priority Postpaid' service, powered by 5G network slicing, is defended by the company as compliant with net neutrality norms while enhancing service quality. Airtel claims it ensures consistent speed for postpaid customers without affecting prepaid service, addressing concerns before the DoT panel.
In a move to emphasize its 5G technological advances, Bharti Airtel has staunchly defended its 'Priority Postpaid' service before the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) panel, affirming that it adheres to net neutrality regulations. The company insists that the service also maintains high-quality prepaid performance.
Responding to the Committee on Communications and Information Technology, Airtel noted that restricting 5G capabilities could undermine future 6G developments. They assured the panel that Priority Postpaid functions neutrally, without resorting to blocking, throttling, or preferential treatment of data.
Launched in May, the Priority Postpaid plan promises uninterrupted high-speed connectivity for postpaid users even in busy areas. Airtel clarified that this initiative does not hinder prepaid services, as current 5G capacity utilization allows for 60% headroom for non-priority traffic.
