Blues G Allen exits vs. Blackhawks after collision

St. Louis Blues goaltender Jake Allen exited in the second period against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday after a collision with teammate Zach Sanford in front of the net.

Allen left the game with 1:01 to go in the second period. He was watching a play develop in front of him when Sanford inadvertently rammed into his head and shoulder at high speed.

Allen sprawled face first on the ice but eventually got up and headed to the locker room with assistance. He was replaced by Chad Johnson, who stopped all five shots he faced. Allen finished with 16 saves, and the Blues pulled away for a 7-3 win.

St. Louis coach Mike Yeo said after the game that an update on Allen would be available after he is evaluated.

Allen, 28, has a 3.99 goals-against average and .874 save percentage in nine starts this season. His career marks are 2.53 and .911, respectively.
