Progress on Dubai Expo 2020, tenders allotted, pavilion revealed

Dubai will host the Expo 2020 for 180 participating countries.

Expo 2020 in Dubai will run for six months from October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021, and is expected to record 25 million visits, with 70 percent anticipated to come from outside the UAE.

More than 180 countries are expected to take part in Expo 2020 Dubai, and 170 nations have either publically or privately confirmed their participation to date.

Recently, Luxembourg became the first foreign nation to break ground for its pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai when Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider held an official ground-breaking ceremony on the site of the next World Expo.

Luxembourg leads the expected 180 countries that are anticipated to take part in the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region.

New Zealand revealed its pavilion design for Dubai Expo 2020 to Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed on Wednesday.

The USD 53 million (Dh194.7m) pavilion will be in the expo's sustainability district and tell the story of New Zealand's kaitiakitanga - the care and connection between land and people.

India and Expo 2020 signed participants' contract on April 10, 2018, for India's pavilion in the World Expo 2020.Various state governments, ministries and major industry associations and businesses have shown their interest in participating in the World Expo 2020.

India has already designated Binoy Kumar, Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce, as Director General of World Expo 2020 Dubai.

PepsiCo as the official beverage and snack partner and District cooling plant Emicool will serve the Expo Village. Emicool said the plant will have an ultimate capacity of 60,000 tonnes of refrigeration (TR) and will deliver the first phase of chilled water effective from May 2019.
