The commerce and industry ministry today said it has launched the 'Startup Academia Alliance' programme to promote entrepreneurship in the country.
It is "a unique mentorship opportunity between academic scholars and startups working in similar domains," the ministry said in a statement.
The programme aims to reduce the gap between scientific research and its industrial applications, to increase the efficacy of these technologies and to widen their impact. The alliance strives to create long-lasting connections between the stakeholders of the startup ecosystem.

The first phase of the programme was kick-started by partnering with Regional Centre for Biotechnology, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and Council on Energy.
Satya MicroCapital secures Rs 43 cr funding from Japanese firm
* Non-banking financial company Satya MicroCapital has secured Rs 43 crore equity funding from Japan-based fintech Gojo & Company along with existing investor Dia Vikas Capital.
Earlier in May this year, it raised Rs 11.5 crore through a rights issue.
The company plans to use the funds to expand its presence across the existing as well as new geographies and to build a diversified loan book, Satya MicroCapital said in a statement.
Satya MicroCapital MD and CEO Vivek Tiwari said that the funding raised will help in growing and empowering more entrepreneurs from the underserved sections of the society.
