Rice basmati rises on stockists' buying

Rice basmati prices firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market Thursday on the emergence of stockists' buying.

However, wheat eased on reduced offtake by flour mills.

Traders said stockists' buying against restricted supplies from producing belts, mainly led to rise in rice basmati prices.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,750-6,850 and Rs 7,800-7,900 per quintal, respectively.

On the other hand, wheat dara (for mills) slipped by Rs 10 to Rs 2,015-2,020 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and enquired lower by a similar margin to Rs 2,020-2,025 per 90 kg.
