British house prices rise at slowest pace in over 5 years: Nationwide

British house prices, which have risen more slowly since the 2016 Brexit vote, increased at their slowest pace in more than five years in October, according to data published on Thursday by mortgage lender Nationwide.

Compared with October 2017, prices rose by 1.6 per cent, down from 2.0 per cent in the previous month and below a median forecast of 1.9 per cent in a Reuters poll of economists.

Prices were flat in monthly terms after a 0.2 per cent rise in September, Nationwide said.
