Japan Airlines and IndiGo Forge Codeshare Partnership for Expanded Connectivity

Japan Airlines and IndiGo have entered into a codeshare agreement, enhancing connectivity between Japan and India. This partnership allows Japan Airlines to access 14 new destinations in India and grants IndiGo passengers more travel options on Japan Airlines' network. The collaboration aims to support trade, commerce, and tourism.

Japan Airlines on Monday announced a codeshare arrangement with IndiGo, marking a strategic move to extend its reach to 14 destinations within IndiGo's domestic network.

Currently, Japan Airlines operates flights from Tokyo to Delhi and Bengaluru, offering daily services to the Indian capital from Haneda Airport and thrice-weekly flights to Bengaluru from Narita Airport. This new agreement aims to provide more travel options between Japan and India, particularly benefitting customers of both airlines.

According to a joint statement, the codeshare partnership will initially enhance Japan Airlines' connectivity into India, with plans to extend IndiGo's network on JAL's domestic and international routes in successive phases. This collaboration will serve major cities across India, including Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, among others, thus connecting them to Japan Airlines’ flights.

IndiGo is expanding its portfolio of codeshare partnerships, and Abhijit DasGupta, Senior Vice President of network planning and revenue management, emphasized that the agreement with Japan Airlines will offer more choices to JAL customers when traveling to and from Japan.

Ross Leggett, Managing Executive Officer and Senior Vice President of Route Marketing at Japan Airlines, expressed optimism about the partnership, noting that it would facilitate seamless connectivity for travelers, bolstering trade, commerce, and tourism between India and Japan.
