Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday kick-started the disbursal of welfare pensions under the NDA government's revamped scheme, 'NTR Bharosa Samajika Pensions', at Penumaka in Guntur district.

The initiative sees a hike in state-wide pensions from Rs 3,000 per month during the previous YSRCP government to Rs 4,000 per month, benefiting over 65 lakh individuals across 28 categories.

Chief Minister Naidu personally handed over pension money to beneficiaries, promising housing support, and instructed officials to expedite construction for eligible residents.

The scheme includes a cumulative pension disbursement of Rs 7,000 for eligible persons, encompassing the enhanced Rs 1,000 for April, May, June, and the Rs 4,000 pension for July.

This increase places a substantial financial burden on the state, adding Rs 1,650 crore to previous months' expenses and Rs 819 crore going forward, totaling Rs 4,408 crore for welfare pensions alone.

The new government has also doubled the monthly pensions for specially-abled individuals from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000, demonstrating a significant commitment to socio-economic support.
