Police have halted vehicles between Chamoli and Karnaprayag, leading to a traffic jam near Langasu Police Station. Pilgrims, including women, children, and the elderly, are receiving assistance from the police and SDRF personnel to navigate mounds of rubble blocking the highway.

The blocked highway also caused difficulties for polling agents deployed in remote stations for Wednesday's bypoll to the Badrinath assembly seat. They returned to Gopeshwar by helicopter on Thursday. BRO personnel are working to clear the road, but frequent debris falls from the hills are complicating their efforts. The number of pilgrims has decreased with the onset of the monsoon.
