Shibaura Machine India (SMI), a subsidiary of Japan's Shibaura Machine, has inaugurated its Unit 2 factory in Chembarambakkam, Chennai, with an investment of Rs. 225 crore. The new facility will significantly expand the company's manufacturing capacity from 1200 to 4000 machines annually.

The new plant will develop around 50 MSME vendors and is expected to create numerous job opportunities in the next 3-4 years. Additionally, the Unit 2 factory boasts advanced features, including a technical demo centre, green-certified infrastructure, and state-of-the-art safety and production capabilities.

Mr. Shigetomo Sakamoto, President of Shibaura Machine Group, and Mr. M. Kumar, Managing Director of SMI, emphasized India's strategic importance for the company's growth and their commitment to the Make in India initiative. Shibaura Machine India has received multiple awards for performance and innovation, reinforcing its market leadership.
