Government Sanctions Rs 493 Crore for Roads and Bridges in Assam and Tripura
The central government has approved an investment of Rs 493 crore for constructing roads and bridges in Assam and Tripura. This project, under PMGSY and PM-JANMAN, aims to improve rural connectivity, enhance access to essential services, and promote economic development in the region.

In a significant move to bolster rural connectivity in the northeastern region, the central government greenlit a Rs 493 crore investment for the construction of roads and bridges in Assam and Tripura, according to the Rural Development Ministry.
A statement from the ministry detailed that 78 roads covering 563.67 km and 14 bridges under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III have received government approval in Assam, with a projected investment of Rs 378.68 crore.
Additionally, in Tripura, 42 roads spanning 118.75 km will be developed under the connectivity component of Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), with an earmarked investment of Rs 114.32 crore.
The ministry highlighted that these construction projects would significantly improve access to essential services, enhance connectivity in rural areas, integrate remote villages with urban centers, and spur economic development and commerce in the region.
In Tripura, the initiative will also provide all-weather road connectivity to 47 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) habitations, the ministry said.
The projects under the third phase of PMGSY and PM-JANMAN are expected to have a transformative impact, fostering growth and prosperity in the region while cementing the government's commitment to inclusive development, targeting the progress of tribal communities, the ministry added.
