Private Sector Urged to Boost Job Creation and Employability
Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, has called on India's private sector to substantially contribute to job creation and making young people employable, aligning with government efforts. Reacting to the Union Budget 2024-25, Mahindra emphasized that without a collaborative approach, the nation's demographic dividend could turn into a demographic disaster.
India's private sector must rise to the occasion and collaborate with the government's job creation initiatives, warns Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra. Without a united effort, India's demographic dividend risks becoming a demographic disaster, Mahindra stated on Wednesday.
Reacting to the Union Budget for 2024-25, Mahindra noted the government's recognition of the necessity for growth accompanied by job creation.
'We boast the world's admiration for our GDP growth and investor confidence in our future,' Mahindra mentioned on social media platform X. 'However, the critical task is to ensure this growth spurs a significant increase in job creation.'
Mahindra emphasized the importance of skilling young people to make them employable, complementing employment opportunities. He commended Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's schemes but stressed the need for close tracking to ensure their effectiveness, with adjustments as needed.
Calling on the private sector, Mahindra urged it to 'step up to the crease' by investing in employment and employability. He warned that failure to collectively address this task could revert the demographic dividend back to a demographic disaster.
