Bisleri's MCC Lake Rejuvenation Project: A Milestone for Water Conservation

Ltd. has successfully rededicated MCC Lake, an essential water resource for the community, marking a significant milestone. The project, supported by Mega Foundations and the Scrub Society, boosted the lake's water-holding capacity to approximately 20 million liters.
The rededication ceremony, held on July 26, 2024, at Madras Christian College (MCC), commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. J.V. Reji, President of the Scrub Society, and a prayer from Rev. C. Somu Ebenezer, MCC's College Chaplain. Key figures such as Justina Carolin D of Bisleri International and Nimal Raghavan of Mega Foundations offered felicitations. Project details were outlined by Cyrus Kallupurackal, Bursar of MCC, and K. Ganesh, Director of Sustainability & Corporate Affairs at Bisleri International.
The project initiated on May 1, 2024, included widening the lake's boundaries, desilting, development of an island to attract bird species, restoring the check dam, planting over 100 native species, and implementing an IoT-enabled floating device for real-time water quality monitoring. Additionally, four recharge pits were completed to harvest rainwater, recharging about 9.89 million liters yearly.
Angelo George, CEO of Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., stated, "The rededication of MCC Lake demonstrates our commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable water management." Dr. Paul Wilson, Principal of MCC, praised the project, highlighting the college's efforts towards achieving water positivity and conserving biodiversity, facilitated by corporate CSR contributions.
The Scrub Society's student volunteers played a pivotal role in the plantation efforts, coordinated by Dr. Reji. The event concluded with the unveiling of plaques by Dr. P. Wilson and Angelo George, celebrating the collaborative efforts, and a vote of thanks by Christo J Shynichen of the Scrub Society.
