Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd reported a marginal decline in consolidated profit after tax for the first quarter ending June 30, 2023. The profit stood at Rs 1,392 crore, down one per cent from Rs 1,403 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

According to a press release from the Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical giant, revenues for the quarter saw a significant rise of 14 per cent, reaching Rs 7,673 crore, compared to Rs 6,738 crore in Q1 FY24.

Co-Chairman and Managing Director G V Prasad commented on the results, noting a robust start to the new fiscal year. He attributed the growth and profitability to the company's generics business, while also highlighting ongoing strategic investments in biologics, consumer healthcare, and innovation to drive patient impact and value creation.

North American revenues grew by 20 per cent to Rs 3,850 crore, driven mainly by increased volumes in the base business and new product launches, although partially offset by price erosion. European revenues rose by 4 per cent to Rs 530 crore, and Indian income increased by 15 per cent to Rs 1,330 crore. Emerging markets reported a 3 per cent growth in revenues, totaling Rs 1,190 crore. The Pharmaceutical Services and Active Ingredients division saw a 14 per cent year-on-year growth, reaching Rs 770 crore in revenue for the quarter.
