Escalations Loom as Hezbollah-Israel Tensions Impact Air Travel to Lebanon
Fears of escalating conflict between Hezbollah and Israel have prompted airlines to cancel flights to Lebanon. Despite the tension, everyday life at Beirut airport continues unaffected, with many travelers showing resilience. Diplomatic efforts are ongoing to prevent further escalation, although Israel plans a symbolic retaliation following recent attacks.
Amid rising fears of escalation between Hezbollah and Israel, several airlines have canceled flights to Lebanon. However, business at Beirut airport remained steady Tuesday, with many travelers appearing unfazed by the warnings.
Lebanese student Hadi Sharqawi, 24, defied flight cancellations to return home for the summer. 'As far as the threats, they didn't influence me at all to not come to Lebanon,' Sharqawi said. Similarly, Mohammad Mokhaled, 71, expressed little concern over the ongoing tensions.
Despite the looming threat of retaliatory strikes from Israel, Lebanon's tourist season has seen minimal disruption. Diplomatic efforts are underway to contain the situation, with a Western diplomat suggesting that any Israeli retaliation would likely remain symbolic.
