In a significant step towards enhancing airport security and efficiency, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu revealed on Thursday that twelve more airports are prepared to roll out the DigiYatra facility. This advanced system, which currently operates at 15 airports across the country, utilizes facial recognition technology to ensure seamless and contactless movement of passengers at various checkpoints.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Minister Naidu stated that an additional 11 airports are in the process of implementing the DigiYatra facility. Responding to questions, he assured that passenger data shared through the DigiYatra App isn't stored in any centralized system, highlighting the government's commitment to data privacy protection.

The DigiYatra app, which allows passengers to enroll their credentials using Aadhaar and store personal information on their smartphones, has already been downloaded by over 43 lakh users. While the app gains traction, efforts to address privacy concerns continue as the system scales up in a phased manner.
