In a move aimed at easing travel for mothers, the Indian Railways has introduced baby berths in the Lucknow Mail on a trial basis. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this initiative while addressing the Rajya Sabha.
Responding to inquiries from BJP MP Sumer Singh Solanki, Vaishnaw explained that two baby berths have been added to two lower berths in a coach of Train No. 12229/30 Lucknow Mail. This effort is designed to make travel more convenient for mothers accompanied by their young children.
Passenger feedback has generally been positive, appreciating the effort. However, issues like restricted luggage space and reduced knee space were also highlighted. Vaishnaw noted that the modification and upgradation of passenger coaches is an ongoing process for Indian Railways.
