Expansion of Vande Bharat Trains in Delhi-Mumbai Sector

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced in the Rajya Sabha that the Delhi-Mumbai sector is currently served by 31 Mail/Express services. He was responding to BJP MP Babubhai Jesangbhai Desai's inquiry about potential Vande Bharat train services via Bhusaval. As of July 2024, 102 Vande Bharat services operate across India.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw disclosed on Friday that the Delhi-Mumbai sector is currently catered to by 31 pairs of Mail/Express services. This statement was made in the Rajya Sabha in response to an inquiry by BJP MP Babubhai Jesangbhai Desai about the introduction of Vande Bharat Express trains from Delhi to Mumbai via Bhusaval.

Minister Vaishnaw stated that, as of July 29, 2024, a total of 102 Vande Bharat train services, primarily Seating Class variants, are operational across Indian Railways, connecting states with Broad Gauge electrified networks.

He further added that the current services in the Delhi-Mumbai sector include prominent Mail/Express trains like the Lokmanya Tilak-Haridwar Express and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj-Amritsar Express. The implementation of new Vande Bharat services is contingent on factors like traffic justification, operational feasibility, and resource availability.
