Adani Wilmar's Stock Surges as Firm Announces Major Demerger
Adani Wilmar's shares jumped 10% following Adani Enterprises' announcement to demerge its food-FMCG business and investments in Adani Commodities LLP. The move aims to focus on and unlock value in the edible oils sector. The market valuation of Adani Wilmar increased by Rs 4,522.89 crore, settling at Rs 383.15 per share.
Adani Wilmar's shares skyrocketed by 10% on Friday after Adani Enterprises announced it would demerge its food-FMCG division and investments in Adani Commodities LLP, transferring them to Adani Wilmar.
The shares hit the upper circuit limit, closing at Rs 383.15 each on the National Stock Exchange and Rs 383 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, boosting the company’s market valuation to Rs 49,777.69 crore.
This strategic move aims to sharpen focus on the food-FMCG sector and unlock substantial value for shareholders. Following the demerger, Adani Wilmar will no longer be a joint venture entity of Adani Enterprises, with promoter stakes reducing to 76.76% from 87.87%.
