Harsimrat Kaur Badal Pushes for Bathinda Airport's International Status
Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has urged Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu to upgrade Bathinda airport to international status. She also requested the introduction of international flights to Canada and a daily Delhi-Bathinda-Delhi flight. In a recent development, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal urged Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu to elevate the status of Bathinda airport to international. The request aims to initiate international flights from Bathinda to Canada, easing travel for frequently commuting students and families.
Additionally, Harsimrat Kaur Badal advocated for a daily Delhi-Bathinda-Delhi flight, to be serviced by Boeing aircraft under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN, which was established in 2016.
The MP stressed Bathinda's significant geographical and economic positioning, connecting eight districts across Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Highlighting the need for regional development, she emphasized that international airport status for Bathinda would greatly benefit students, NRIs, and local residents. She also underscored the importance of air links between Sikh holy sites to better serve pilgrims.
