Ashok Leyland Sees Surge in Fleet Operator Enquiries amid Market Consolidation

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has reported a significant increase in enquiries from fleet operators, as the segment is currently undergoing a consolidation phase. The company forecasts single-digit growth for the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (MHCV) segment this fiscal year, marking a change from earlier expectations of flat growth, according to Sanjeev Kumar, President of MHCV at Ashok Leyland.

The company is hosting a two-day 'Mini Expo' in Navi Mumbai, showcasing its range of trucks, buses, and other vehicles in the MHCV portfolio. Mumbai is one of 11 exclusive locations across India chosen for this event.

With market dynamics shifting, Prasad, an executive at Ashok Leyland, noted that the mix between fleet and retail customers is changing, resulting in a higher number of enquiries and larger order sizes from fleet operators. This trend is attributed to benefits in income, asset acquisition costs, and GST advantages for fleet operators. Kumar expressed confidence in the company's comprehensive transportation solutions, evidenced by the expo's success and anticipated industry growth.
