The first quarter earnings season in the Indian stock market is drawing to a close, with the majority of major listed companies having reported their results. An analysis by brokerage firm ICICI Direct reveals that Capital Markets, Consumer Durables, Electronic Manufacturing Services, and Waste Management sectors delivered robust numbers.

ICICI Direct highlighted that Capital Markets benefited from increasing volumes, orders, and new client acquisitions. The Asset Management Company (AMC) sector also saw growth due to buoyant net equity inflows and record-high SIP flows. The rising middle class and financial inclusion are channeling household savings towards investment products, fueling sector growth.

In the Consumer Durables sector, a notably hot summer spurred demand, especially for air conditioners. This resulted in significant topline growth and expanded margins, aided by lower input costs and operational efficiency. Key growth drivers include low penetration, a rising middle-class population, and urbanization.

Electronic Manufacturing Services firms reported strong demand across diverse sectors like electric vehicles, aerospace, and railways. ICICI Direct predicts India's electronic manufacturing could double to USD 250 billion in five years, with government policies like PLI schemes providing substantial support.

The Waste Management sector saw robust volume growth, driven by a move towards organized recycling to comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) norms. With significant unrecycled waste, the sector is poised for growth amid rising environmental awareness and regulatory pressures.
