Air India is set to open a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Bengaluru, promising to generate over 1,200 jobs. This initiative is part of the airline's broader goal to modernize its fleet and expand global operations, said Air India CEO Campbell Wilson on Wednesday.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the Bangalore International Airport, with multiple dignitaries including Karnataka's Commissioner for Industrial Development Gunjan Krishna and BIAL's CEO Hari Marar in attendance. The MRO facility is located on a 35-acre plot and aims to become a key hub for aircraft maintenance.

The facility, featuring advanced technologies such as overhead tele platforms and universal docking systems, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Air India has partnered with SIA Engineering Company for this project, which is also set to include a Basic Maintenance Training Organisation to train up to 50 engineers annually starting in 2025.
