Carrefour's Grand Return to India: A Decade in the Making
French retailer Carrefour is set to re-enter the Indian market in partnership with Dubai-based Apparel Group, marking its comeback after a decade. The collaboration aims to launch Carrefour's brands in North India by 2025, with plans for nationwide expansion. Carrefour had exited India in 2014 due to business challenges.

French retail giant Carrefour is making a significant comeback to the Indian market in partnership with Dubai-based Apparel Group. The move comes after a decade-long hiatus, with plans to introduce Carrefour's exclusive brands initially in North India and then expand nationwide by 2025.
The collaboration between Carrefour and Apparel Group, a leading retail and lifestyle company, marks a strategic entry into one of the world's fastest-growing economies. The first stores are slated to open in the NCR Region by the summer of 2025, as per a joint statement from both companies.
Carrefour had previously exited India in 2014, citing business challenges and the difficulty in finding a local partner. This new alliance aims to overcome those hurdles. India is now a key part of Carrefour's International Partnership 2026 development plan, which aims to expand into over 10 new countries by 2026.
