Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC), a state-owned entity, announced a substantial 71.4% increase in consolidated profits for the quarter ending on September 30, 2024. The firm's net profit soared to Rs 127.86 crore, significantly up from Rs 74.58 crore reported during the same quarter the previous fiscal year.

This notable financial performance was underpinned by a rise in consolidated revenue from operations, which climbed to Rs 593.01 crore in the July-September quarter, compared to Rs 382.74 crore in the previous year, according to GMDC's recent regulatory filing.

As India's second-largest lignite producer, GMDC harnesses lignite from rich deposits across Gujarat, supplying various burgeoning sectors such as textiles, chemicals, ceramics, bricks, and captive power industries.
