A grassland fire broke out at the northern part of Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Friday evening. Authorities confirmed that the fire was not near the airstrip and did not disrupt flight operations.
Kenya Airways spokesperson Henry Okatch stated that the emergency response teams had successfully contained part of the blaze. Operations at the airport continued without interruption, according to an airport worker.
The Kenya Red Cross reported on social media platform X that emergency teams were present and actively battling the fire, ensuring it did not pose any further threat to the airport or its operations.
