Assam's Rail Network: Full Electrification by Year-End

The entire rail network in Assam is set for electrification by the end of the current year, according to Minister of State for Railways V Somanna. The minister made this announcement during his visit to Guwahati railway station, where he assessed the progress on various development projects.
Accompanied by Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava and other senior railway officials, Somanna highlighted the remarkable advancements in Assam's railway infrastructure since 2014, stating that 100 percent electrification is imminent by the end of 2025.
The minister also underscored efforts in modernizing railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with Guwahati station receiving upgrades worth Rs 181.09 crore. Somanna further commented on new track installations to boost regional connectivity and surveyed facilities like QR code ticketing and security measures.
