Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has publicly charged the prior AAP administration with large-scale mismanagement within the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). A CAG report, highlighting significant operational failures and financial losses, was recently presented in the Assembly, fuelling these allegations.
The Assembly's Speaker, Vijender Gupta, instructed the DTC to present an action-taken note within a month while sending the CAG report to the Committee on Government Undertakings for a detailed review within three months. During the Assembly discussion on the report, CM Gupta emphasized the Rs 668 crore loss due to operational inefficiencies like improper scheduling, and criticized the opposition for deflecting blame.
Gupta also exposed irregularities involving the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System's ownership change. The Chief Minister vowed to rejuvenate the DTC and upgrade ISBTs with state-of-the-art technology, while rolling out a new accountability system in the women's free ride scheme managed by the preceding government.
