Air India Faces Scrutiny: Safety Violations and Fatal Crash

Air India has come under intense scrutiny after a series of safety violations and a tragic crash. The civil aviation ministry disclosed that nine show cause notices were issued over the past six months. One violation has already seen enforcement action.

The dire situation intensified when a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, bound for London Gatwick, crashed shortly after departing Ahmedabad, resulting in 260 fatalities. In response, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered further inspections of the airline's Boeing fleet, finding minor issues in eight aircraft.

Minister K Rammohan Naidu stated that 31 of 33 operational aircraft have undergone inspection and subsequent rectification. Meanwhile, 254 enforcement actions have occurred this year alone, emphasizing the need for stringent safety audits and checks on aviation operations in India.
