The Delhi High Court is delving into a high-stakes legal battle involving data theft accusations in the competitive field of real estate analytics. A lawsuit filed by PE Analytics Limited, known as PropEquity, accuses Bhugol Analytics Private Limited (operating as CRE Matrix) of illicitly acquiring its primary real estate data.
Justice Manmeet PS Arora has summoned Bhugol Analytics, including its directors and some employees, to respond to these serious allegations. PropEquity claims that Bhugol Matrix used nearly identical figures in the primary residential data segment, despite not actively operating in this domain from 2021 to 2024.
The plaintiff has further alleged that Bhugol Analytics enticed former PropEquity employees to join them, violating non-compete clauses and compromising proprietary data. The firm seeks a permanent injunction and damages amounting to Rs 8 crore, while authorities in Gurugram have begun investigating the matter.
