Jet Airways has cancelled six flights Thursday after six of its planes were grounded due non-payment of lease rentals, a source said Wednesday. The Naresh Goyal-controlled private carrier had cancelled 34 flights between Tuesday and Wednesday owing to the grounding of the planes.
The airline, which is facing a serious financial crisis, has decided to cancel six flights from New Delhi to Kathmandu, Chennai and Port Blair, a source told PTI Wednesday. The airline, however, in a statement said that it is trying to minimise the inconvenience caused to passengers arising out of the cancellations.
Owing to flight cancellations arising due to temporary groundings, the company is making all efforts to minimize disruptions to its network and informing and re-accommodating its affected guests, it said in a statement. The airline is actively engaged with all its aircraft lessors, it said and added that it has been regularly providing updates on the efforts undertaken to improve liquidity.
