The Samba district administration took swift action on Tuesday, setting up a free medical camp to assist over 200 truck drivers and conductors stranded on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway. Due to adverse weather conditions and flooding, truckers have been stuck for several days, necessitating urgent care.

Samba Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan inaugurated the camp at Tapyal Morh, focusing on delivering immediate healthcare to transportation workers caught in this challenging situation. 'Our priority is the safety and well-being of those who ensure the movement of goods and essential services,'' Sudan stated. This intervention highlights the administration's proactive stance in alleviating the cascading humanitarian impacts of natural disasters.

Organized with the Samba health department and Ghagwal sub-divisional magistrate K S Bali, the medical team from Ghagwal Area Hospital provided comprehensive examinations, medications, and screenings for non-communicable diseases. The initiative offers indispensable support to drivers vulnerable to health issues due to prolonged exposure to harsh conditions and uncertainties on the highways.
