India is intensifying its global trade efforts by negotiating free trade agreements with major global economies, including the US and European Union, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. The minister highlighted the importance of building partnerships based on mutual trust amid the current geopolitical climate.

In a bid to bolster strategic trade relations, India is in discussions with individual countries and regions, comprising around 50 nations. Talks are underway with Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, New Zealand, as well as a six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council.

As India seeks to balance existing agreements, reviews of ASEAN and Korea FTAs are in progress. Furthermore, strategic negotiations with Eurasian and Mercosur regions, South Africa Customs Union, Canada, and Israel are also on the agenda to strengthen India's economic ties globally.
