A new express train service connecting Jaisalmer to Delhi was officially launched this Saturday. Named the Swarn Nagari Express, this service is part of efforts to improve civilian access and bolster strategic mobility in Rajasthan's frontier region.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat flagged off the train. The move aligns with the Centre's broader strategy to improve transport links in Rajasthan's border districts, areas noted for military presence and growing tourism but limited rail services.
Railway Minister Vaishnaw highlighted that railway projects worth Rs 55,000 crore are underway in Rajasthan. These initiatives aim to enhance both civilian and defence mobility, a critical need for the region's infrastructure development. Meanwhile, upgrades in station facilities and new rail lines are in progress, signifying a strategic push under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership to modernize Indian Railways.
