A small aircraft tragically crashed while attempting an emergency landing in central Mexico, killing at least seven individuals. The incident took place in San Mateo Atenco, a mere three miles from the Toluca airport, and is currently under investigation. Adrian Hernandez, the Mexico State Civil Protection Coordinator, confirmed the details following the crash.

The ill-fated plane, which had embarked from Acapulco along the Pacific coast, carried eight passengers and two crew members. It apparently aimed to land on a soccer field but collided with a metal roof of a neighboring business, resulting in a large fire.

To ensure safety, San Mateo Atenco Mayor Ana Muniz coordinated the evacuation of around 130 local residents due to the ensuing blaze. Authorities are now probing into the crash to determine its cause as recovery work continues.
